Apollo Project

Reviewing historical work undertaken at the Apollo project has identified the Heyfield Reef prospect as prospective or high-grade Gold-Antimony mineralisation.

The reviewed data includes 22 rock samples from 2019 and 16 drillholes completed in 2022.

✔ 3 metres at 5.2 g/t Au and 3.4% Sb from 66m to 69m in drillhole HFRC04
✔ Peak rock sampling results at 20.1 g/t Au and 3.9% Sb. 7 samples returned +1% Sb (XRF sampling)

These preliminary results demonstrate similarities to regional Au-Sb projects, such as Mandalay’s Costerfield mine (Australia’s only current producing Antimony mine) and Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek deposit.

The presence of high grade Antimony (Sb, Stibnite) bolsters the potential of the project to contain an analogue to the producing Costerfield mine.

Antimony (Sb) is a strategically vital mineral that holds significant importance across a diverse array of industrial sectors, including advanced electronics, renewable energy systems, and national defence.

Its unique properties, such as flame retardancy, hardness, and alloying capabilities, make it indispensable in the production of flame retardants, lead-acid batteries, semiconductors, and military-grade materials.

Recognising its critical role in modern technology and infrastructure, governments worldwide have classified antimony as a critical mineral, underscoring its essential contribution to economic security, technological innovation, and national security.

Antimony Price

Buoyed by growing supply deficits, the Antimony price continues to surge

Adelong Gold stated in their announcement to the market, that the review undertaken of historical data has reinforced their view that project has potential to host epizonal Antimony-Gold mineralisation similar to more advanced projects in the Melbourne Zone such as the Costerfield Mine (TSX: MND) and the Sunday Creek deposit (ASX: SX2). The Melbourne Zone hosts over 4Moz of Gold in discoveries and includes the prolific Walhalla goldfield.

In regards to the review outcome, Adelong Gold’s Managing Director, Ian Holland stated:

“The identification of high-grade antimony-gold potential within the Heyfield Reef prospect highlights the exception potential we see in the recently acquired Apollo Gold Project. With our existing expertise and technical capabilities, we look forward to unlocking the project’s full potential and creating value for our shareholders.”

An initial rock sampling program was undertaken at the Heyfield Reef in 2019. A total of 22 samples were collected and assayed for gold with a peak result of 20.1 g/t Au, with a total of 4 samples returning >1 g/t Au. From the 22 samples, 13 returned values in excess of 0.2 g/t Au.

Re-sampling in 2019 of the initial analysis undertaken by portable XRF revealed a peak result of 3.9% Sb and a total of 7 results more than 1% Sb.

In 2022, reverse circulation drilling program was undertaken at the Heyfield Reef prospect. The program consisted of 15 reverse circulation drillholes and 1 diamond drillhole. The samples were all assayed for gold, given the presence of visible Stibnite mineralisation in the samples from 66m to 69m in HFRC04, these three samples were also assayed for Antimony. These were the only samples from the drilling program assayed for Antimony at the laboratory from this program.

Notable drill intersections from the program include:

  • HFRC04: 3 metres at 5.2g/t Au & 3.4% Sb from 66m to 69m
  • HFRC03 1 metre at 26.5 g/t Au
  • HFRC02 1 metre at 0.99 g/t Au
  • HFRC14 1 metre at 0.63 g/t Au

The results confirm the presence of a high-grade epizonal antimony-gold system, comparable to other Victorian deposits. The mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth, warranting immediate exploration.

The high-grade Antimony-Gold results at the Heyfield prospect demonstrate the exceptional potential of the Apollo project.

Other results such as those at the ‘Dig Fault’ Zone within the wider Apollo project, demonstrate the tenure’s ability to deliver wide high-grade Gold intersections.
